Primal Sources

Within the new world that your character will experience, magic is everywhere and is linked to everything. There are 6 types of magic which are connected to elemental aspects of the world: Sun, Moon, Stars, Sky, Water, and Earth. These are typically known as Primal Sources or Connections - the more informal way of referring to the bond between a character and their Primal Source.

After a bit of exposure to the new environment, characters will begin to notice early clues as to what primal source they are bonded to. Each source has a list of abilities that characters will develop as they learn the extent and boundaries to their new capabilities but there are also drawbacks to them that are both physical and mental. The time with which the character succumbs to these drawbacks is up to the player's judgement, however them leveling up is maintained by the admins on a timely basis.

Characters may notice changes in their appearance or demeanors as their bodies adjust to their newfound power. They were not born to house a great force such as the sources so their reactions to developing powers will be different to The Guides.

Sun

Those connected to the Sun are full of youthful energy and optimism. They are of bright and loving nature that can sometimes be seen as foolishness but they are the “glue that keeps everyone together”. These characters have strong hearts that reach out to everyone and they are fierce fighters for what they believe in. They can offer words of soothing comfort or give words sharp as claws. Some are known to have short tempers while others are simply frustratingly stubborn.

This primal source is reliant on dexterity and harnesses the power of fire, light, and explosions. However, with overuse of this power the cat may experience effects of heat stroke and grow to become more obsessive as their power grows.

Those of the Sun source may glow in darker areas, create trails of ash, leave burnt paw prints or have singed fur, notice smoke plumes from their body, and have embers imbedded into their fur.

Fafnir, Kieran, Magpie, and Wildheart

Moon

Those who are connected to the Moon primal source are oftentimes described as loners or outcasts - ones who just never seemed to fit in. They either choose to spend their days alone or just aren't accepted by others because they are misunderstood. Some are also known to hide their true self from others. Their personalities vary from being quiet to aggressive to gentle.

This primal source is reliant on intelligence and control the shadows, poison, and invisibility. However, with overuse of this power the cat may succumb to illnesses more often than others and grow more distant from others as their power grows.

Those of the Moon source may develop darker eye whites, have darker shadows or their shadows cling to their body, body parts may become translucent at times, and their shadows may add to their appearance (additional ears, tails, horns, etc.).

Orias, Panther, Veliomoure, and Vulture

Stars

Those who are connected to the Star primal source are extremely curious and have child-like wonder. Some may see them as weird and not normal because they don’t tend to conform to social norms and would rather express themselves how they feel. Their way of thinking is different and known to be outside of the box - something that others may not have fathomed to think of. These characters can also be very stubborn and are willing to say whatever is on their mind despite the judgment of others. They are open-minded and willing to take risks to learn more.

This primal source is reliant on wisdom and has domain over ice, sounds, and psychometry. However, with overuse of this power the cat may notice signs of frostbite and become more dethatched to reality the more their power develops.

Those of the Star source may notice their breath becoming visible, frost growing on their fur are the ground around them, entire limbs may become covered in ice or there is a constant snowfall in their general area.

Caora Ó Riasc, Jesse, Jessie, and Phoenix

Sky

Those who are connected to the Sky primal source are described as being loud and bold. They take risks where they probably shouldn’t and live life to the fullest. These characters have big dreams and most are willing to do anything to reach it. Some of them could have a big heart while others may just be endlessly greedy.

This primal source is reliant on strength and harnesses the power of wind, electricity, and physical enhancement. However, with overuse of this power the cat may notice themselves becoming closer to being paralyzed for a short time and be prone to more aggressive actions as their powers enhance.

Those of the Sky source have a charged energy around them and may often shock others by accident if they get too close, their physical appearance is stronger and healthier, their fur may float as though a wind were constantly around them, lightning marks may appear on their fur despite any physical damage done to them, and develop tougher skin.

Finch, Griffin, Raven, and Sundog

Earth

Those who are connected to the Earth primal source are the voices of reason in arguments and tend to be very selfless. They give both emotional or physical support during times of need and many are seen as being shy or sweet but others may simply be hiding their big heart away. These characters tend to be the first to provide assistance for anything, no matter the task.

This primal source is reliant on constitution and manipulates the power of the Earth, plants, and healing. However, with overuse of this power the cat may become injured more often (scrapes, bruises, etc) with a higher likelihood of scarring and become more controlling over things as their power develops.

Those of the Earth source may have various plant growth either on their body or trailing after them, crystal or rock growth may form on their limbs, small creatures and bugs may be more drawn to these characters as well.

Elysium, Enso, and Sigurd

Water

Those who are connected to the Water primal source are most suited for leadership roles due to their level-headedness during times of high stress and great ability to communicate. They tend to be very analytical and are always aware of their surroundings. Some may even be described as manipulative or two-faced while others are seen as a calming sanctuary - always able to provide advice and comfort. They are very social and tend to be the center of attention whether on purpose or not.

This primal source is reliant on charisma and harnesses the power of water, illusions, and telepathy. However, with overuse of this power the cat may become waterlogged for a time and grow to become more distrusting of others as their abilities enhance.

Those of the Water source may appear to be constantly wet or drip water, their fur may float as they were underwater, they may develop gills or fins, streams of water may flow in through their fur, and their body may change in appearance as a result of their illusions.

Asphodel, Lovelace, and Piper

Below is an in depth description of each power at certain levels and their drawbacks.

While a character's stat may align with a higher power (stat of 8 = Level 5), the character themself cannot use that high of a power without causing much strain to their body. It takes time for their body to adjust to the influx of power being given to them and this is translated out of character by completing level ups.

Players may only go up to 3 levels higher than their gained level maximum.

1 Level Higher

Players will feel light negative effects assigned to their source.

Example: A sky source may begin to keep numbness in their body but can still otherwise fight but with difficulty for 2 posts.

2 Levels Higher

Players will begin to start needing rest in order to recover from the power they used.

Example: A sun source may become physically ill as a symptom of heat stroke and require 1 post to miss out from as they recover.

3 Levels Higher

Players are severely influenced by the negative effects of their power at this point and cannot fight further for a short time.

Example: An earth source has become injured from the backlash of their ability and needs to miss 3 posts in order to fully recover.
